The Health and Social Development Department coordinates and addresses issues and activities pertaining to health and social development within CYFN.  The Department facilitates coordination and/or acts as a liaison and/or an advocate on health and social issues nationally, regionally and locally that affect Yukon First Nation's health and well being.  When appropriate, the department assists/guides Yukon First Nations to develop, implement and evaluate the delivery of health and social programs in their community.  The Department also identifies needs and workable alternatives for health and social service delivery in conjunction with the First Nations Health and Social Development Commission, the Grand Chief and the Leadership Board.
The Department currently has the following staff positions: Director of Health and Social Development, Administrative Assistant, Research Coordinator, Regional Health Survey Coordinator, AHTF Manager, AHHRI Coordinator.  There are a few contract positions for the First Nations Regional Health Survey ,the Resolution Health Support Worker.

The Resolution Health Support Worker Program is responsible for providing frontline emotional support to Indian Residential School claimants. The services include, providing a variety of front-line safety supports and coordination services directly to claimants before, during and after the claims process. By providing support and/or obtaining legal assistance for the claimants and attend hearings; assists claimants to understand his/her rights and responsibilities in the process; network and relationship building with private and government agencies, First Nations and lawyers. Responds to problems and special needs caused by communication barriers, which exist between First Nation claimants and the judicial system. Community Health Scan Toolkit
This folder contains the contents of the Toolkit produced by the Health & Social Development Department in the spring of 2010.  The toolkit is a varied collection of resources to use, modify and share.
The material in the toolkit is intended for health and social planning work although it could be used for many different purposes.
Feedback from Yukon First Nation Health and Social Development Commission members, other health and social development staff and Community Health Scan participants helped to determine the resources to include in this Toolkit.
