Beaver Creek is the home of the White River First Nation, which is culturally affiliated with the Upper Tanana and Northern Tutchone people. In April 1999 there were 124 registered members of the White River First Nation, of whom close to 80 lived in other communities.

The Upper Tanana language is an Athapaskan dialect and is one of the many Athapaskan groupings. People from the Upper Tanana and Southern and Northern Tutchone make up the membership of the White River First Nation. The Department of Indian Affairs grouped the Upper Tanana people with the Southern Tutchone people of the Kluane area and at a Council of Yukon First Nations General Assembly the White River First Nation separated from the Klaune First Nation to form their own First Nation. Presently, the White River First Nation has not signed their First Nation Final Agreement and Self-Government Agreement; they are currently in the negotiations process with the Federal and Yukon Governments and remain under the Indian Act.
