Telehealth Project

This pilot project provided training for First Nations staff interested in using the telehealth systems in the DHSS Community Health Centers. These systems are available to First Nations staff during regular hours and supported by DHSS.

The project also proposed the installation of video conferencing systems and the provision of staff training for the four sites that are currently piloting this technology. These sites were coordinated with the Teslin Tlingit Council, Kluane First Nation, Champagne Aishihik First Nation, and the Council of Yukon First Nations. Site visits were completed with these four communities to verify needs, site readiness, and current technical infrastructure. Equipment installation and training was completed in November of 2008.

The technical requirements for both the network and the equipment were provided in the plan. The implementation process included the workflow analysis, site-training plan and technical training plan. The roles and responsibilities of the project team are clearly defined.
