Vision:

The Training Policy Committee invests in quality training and initiaties for developing skilled Yukon First Nation beneficiaries, leading to self-sufficiency.

Mission:

Working to ensure the Yukon First Nation People obtain training to implement land claims and self-government agreements, and to fully participate in the economic opportunities arising from their implementation.

About Us:

The Training Policy Committee looks after the Yukon Indian People Training Trust Fund. Chapter 28 of the Umbrella Final Agreement states the mandate of the Training Policy Committee (TPC) as follows:

  • 28.7.4.1 establish training programs for Yukon Indian People;
  • 28.7.4.2 develop a training plan which addresses matters identified in the implementation plans;
  • 28.7.4.3 develop a work plan to be included in the Umbrella Final Agreement implementation plan;
  • 28.7.4.4 develop guidelines for expenditure of money from the Trust;
  • 28.7.4.5 expend the money in the Trust in accordance with the approved work plan;
  • 28.7.4.6 prepare an annual report to be delivered to the parties to the Umbrella Final Agreement; and
  • 28.7.4.7 establish consultative arrangements between Government and Yukon First Nations to ensure effective and economical integration of existing programs with new programs established by the training plan.

Training Policy Committee Newsletter

The Training Policy Committee is working to assist Yukon First Nations reach their training goals. The newsletter is a step to keep stakeholders informed on TPC/YIPTT activity and share success stories. Feel free to send a story or request a topic for future editions. This  resource booklet is designed to provide contact information for many training programs in the Yukon.
Information includes contacts for a variety of funding sources, including trust funds, scholarships and government programs. It can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. If you would like a hard copy please contact our office.

 

Yukon Mine Training Association Connects Trainees with Training

The Training Policy Committee entered into a partnership with YMTA to produce a database that can provide names of qualified trainers and training programs.
This database will assist First Nation people to obtain training to implement land claims and self government agreements, and to fully participate in the economic opportunities arising from their implementation.
