The Executive Office consists of the Grand Chief’s office, a number of advisors, and an administrative support staff. The department also includes some negotiation co-ordination which partner with certain initiatives at other levels of government. The office of the Grand Chief is responsible for the leadership of the Council of First Nations on an ongoing basis, providing the vision and decision-making for the organization. The Grand Chief is elected by a majority vote in the General Assembly and serves a three-year term. He or she also acts as the chairperson of the Leadership Board and the spokesperson for that body. As the most highly placed official in the Council of Yukon First Nations, the Grand Chief also acts as an ambassador for Yukon First Nation people at the local, national and international levels. The Department consists of the following positions: Grand Chief, Executive Director, Chief Legal Counsel, Policy Coordinator, Economic Development Officer, Education Technician and the Executive Secretary.
